AS - a very decent Jewish guy.

He's going on the march for peace today.

It's refreshing to see a celebrity member of the Jewish faith such as Alexei courageously risking limiting his career by coming out on national television to condemn the Israeli government's war crimes in Gaza in the strongest of terms and defend the Palestinian people by citing the literney of atrocities visited upon them and their imprisoned, starved and downtrodden society over the years by their monstrously inhumane neighbour from hell.

Since the second intifada broke out in 2000, Israelis have killed nearly 5,000 Palestinians, almost 1,000 of them minors.

Since fall of 2007, Israel has kept the 1.5 million Gazans under a blockade, interdicting food, fuel and medical supplies to one degree or another. Wreaking collective punishment on civilian populations such as hospital patients denied needed electricity is a crime of war.

My hat goes off to that Jewish man! There are many decent Jewish people out there but not many dare speak up because they may be accused of betraying the ideal of Promised Land, and ostracised.

Alas a full scale ground offensive is now in place and the US goverment thinks it is reasonable action.

I've had to abandon commenting on US blogs (and thus lost a lot of traffic) because the hysteria generated over the pond in support of Israel is just to projectle vomit inducing.

Nothing has changed in America except the President's name and as long as America continues to arm Israel the genocide will go on. It will not stop even if every Arab is driven out of Palestine, The Biblical boundaries of "The Nation Of Israel" are the west bank of the Euphrates and the east bank of the Nile so there's a long way to go yet.

Ironically the real history tells us modern Israel was never the nomeland of the Jewish tribes (if they actually existed)

Alexi Sayle was brilliant on TV and many secular jews hold similar views. Their voices will not be heard until America stops the weapons and financial support though.

  Actually the president's name hasn't changed, it's still Bush until the 20th.
  
  In fact more than one person on the news has suggested this was done in the knowledge the new regime under Obama may not give them carte blanche to carry on with such an immoral battle.
  
  As for the rest of it...
  
  It seems today some peace may be brokered, we can but hope, even though I fear it'll never be enough. Israel's little "peace" offering of a three hour break each day made me sick.
  
  The Daily Show coverage has so far been the most unbiased and most logical, rather sad that to get a fair and informed view of world events in America you have to tune into Comedy Central. It's also good to see another openly Jewish person in Jon Stewart happy to buck the trend and tell it how it really is over there.

      Funny, people with nothing to do with Israel are jumping up and down to support them and their own countrymen are trying to disavow knowledge of their actions quicker than a failed Mission Impossible team...

Alexei Sayle is always worth reading and watching, and it is rare for me to disagree with him when he talks about politics. He's right again, of course. What Israel and their American sponsors are doing is disgusting.

  Absolutely loved his " 'ello Jon gohh'a new mo'er" way back when, Dr D. - it was the manic monkey-suited spasmodic body jerk dance that went with it that creased me up... but yeah, he's a living legend of a comedian and a hero coming out for humanism as he does.

    My wife saw him in Fleet motorway services a while back. I didn't spot him, probably because he was wearing clothes that fitted him properly. I still wish she had said something at the time, like "Oh look, there's Alexei Sayle".
    
    I can always forgive bad spelling and grammar from anyone who uses a Hawkwind sleeve design as an avatar. In cases of sonic attack, think only of yourself...

I didn't see it but it is a great post as the others you write, and the previous one.
I'm not taking sides, i hate the war, it is SAD that they can't understand each other, and during all History they have been fighting so much...it's about time they end it, be humans, live and let live in peace all..why can't they?!!!
All this is really sad, and the poor people are the ones suffering!!
