A lavish 4-hour ceremonial show involving thousands of made-up and pre-programmed production-line clones draped in multi-colored silks, weaving Tia chi-like in robotic synchronicity, wearing huge snakes and dragons, swinging their paper lanterns, waving myriads of meaningless brazen banners and flags, beating and bashing all manner of drum and cymbal and brandishing symbols of Chinese "culture" for the whole bored world to TV-see. All celebrating this hideous smog-impregnated bird's nest of girders lined with the bird SHIT of predominantly doped-up athletes, rife corruption and an occupied and bludgeoned to death Tibet.
Meantime, here at stoat towers ( a dank soily horizontal hole in a riverbank ), yours truly yawns all the way through this terrifically tawdry spectacle, wondering.... pondering, in between snapping the heads off a few crunchy stickleback snacks pawed from the river only hours before, ... on the ins and outs and wherewithal meaning of all this forced false display of childish oriental histrionics.
It's, like, a bit scary heh? Just to think one person in every four on the planet is Chinese. And they're about to take over the entire world with their regimented nonsense and humourless work-til-you-drop ethic. Their paranoid and suited leaders from another era pose, posture and poesy about as if they actually have something to be proud of!
A zillion years of culture and where are they? Raping and pillaging the world's mineral resources on a massive scale, with scant lip service regard for the environment. Rife corruption in business.
The Chinese people - barring exceptions - can show unspeakable horrors of cruelty towards both animals and each other. Skinning poor caged cats and dogs alive, murdering their unborn and newborn infants because of gender, flooding the world with illegal immigrants involved in all manner of gang crime involving people-trafficking, prostitution, gun-running and drugs.
And we houseproud western hypocrites happily lap up their cheap slave-labour and pollution-causing tat by the skip-load, then whine about the price of oil shooting up because of Chinese commercial demand
Stoaty has seen the future - and it's robotic autocratic horrible.
( btw, strange then that I find most ordinary Chinese people cute and polite and superficially at least, friendly. )
